Abstract

Introduction: Psoriasis is a systemic disease with high impact on quality of life. It affects 1 to 2% of the general population, it can begin in the infant, or debut in childhood, adolescence or adulthood. Objective: To provide general physicians with useful comparative aspects in their daily practice that allow them an initial approach and an interdisciplinary management of psoriasis. Results: 27% is manifested before 15 years with thin plates or drops, retroauricular, facial, umbilical or diaper area, which can delay the diagnosis. Depending on the age, location, extent of the lesions, topical treatments and UVBnb phototherapy are of choice in mild to moderate forms, in adults and children because they are safe and effective. The systemic and biological ones are reserved for severe, arthropathic forms, due to the potential risk of adverse effects. Conclusion: Both the initial management to improve the skin barrier and the topical treatments can be performed by the general practitioner, in an interdisciplinary way. For cases with more complex clinical forms and comorbidities, management must be more intensive. The under-treated severe forms affect the quality of life.
